According to test results conducted by authoritative bodies, the presence of formaldehyde content of newly renovated houses in China has exceeded the standard rate for as high as 80%. On that note, the indoor air quality of newly renovated houses in Singapore is not optimistic either. In 2019, the International Natural Coating Society commissioned TÜV SÜD PSB Pte Ltd to test the concentrations of formaldehyde in some of the volunteers’ newly renovated homes and found out that each and every household had crossed the recommended rate, with the minimum exceeding 16 times and reaching as high as 29 times. These results were shocking and worrying !

Under this controversial situation, the International Natural Coating Society has particularly launched an awareness exercise named "Millions of healthy and liveable homes ; receive free formaldehyde test kits". During the activity, whoever that meets any of the following requirements will be eligible to receive a formaldehyde test box for free.

Receiving criteria: 
- Any families with pregnant women and anticipate new births (Proof of prenatal screening cards must be provided)
- All families with children under one year old (Birth certificates must be provided)
- All homeowners whom have bought new and second-hand houses from 1st November 2019 to 31st October 2020 (Relevant documents of ownership must be provided)
- All families whom have renovated their houses during the period from 1st November 2019 to 31st October 2020 (Proof of relevant renovation contracts must be provided)
- All new homeowners who are starting their families and moving in before 30th April 2021 and also those planning to start a home renovation (Relevant supporting documents must be provided)
